The Teacher Wellbeing Revolution

Teachers and leaders have been talking about staff wellbeing for some time, but with very little change in the attitude from Ofsted and a reluctance to make it anything more than a recommendation, teachers have had to take things into their own hands. ATL is talking about workload issues with their ‘About Time’ campaign, Twitter users have forged a flourishing network through #teacher5aday and there are many other unions, networks and groups supporting the cause. The Positive Teacher Network is part of this movement, this revolution to support all teachers in their wellbeing. We must spend time focusing on our wellbeing so that we can maintain our health, resilience and ability to support others. Teachers are often ‘givers’ and as a result are liable to give so much of themselves to their students that they burn out before they realise they need to stop.
